progress

today we made significant progress (in zambian terms) with The Bride project. theresa and i spent the morning getting quotes for building materials and plants and the we drove down to the farm.

we were able to buy a spade, a hoe and a slasher to take to the farm and then we found a worker. we have employed justin (centre) for a week?s piece work, if we are satisfied with his work in clearing the ground then we will be able to give him a contract next week. as soon as the ground is cleared then we can start planting while the rains are still here. paying him 100,000 kwacha for a week?s work will provide him and his children an income that they would have struggled to find elsewhere. 100,000 kwacha is about £13.

these are massive steps for theresa to see happening and if you could have heard her squealing like a child on the way home, you would have smiled!
