Respectacles

Today we went to an exhibition/ installation called 'Respectacles' which is part of the holocaust memorial programme in Liverpool.
It was inspired by the piles of personal objects, including spectacles, found at the death camps after WWII. It was made up of over 100,000 pairs of donated spectacles and was the most moving, sensitive, thought provoking work of art i had seen in a long time. I have always thought art should provoke an emotion of some kind, and in this case it succeeded with an overwhelming, humbling sense of sadness.
