The first day of sunshine for - four months? Staff and students at work flocked out at lunchtime to squeeze onto overcrowded benches, crouch on concrete steps, sit on the still sodden grass and crowd round the picnic tables outside the bar. There was a noticeable lifting of spirits and the students were playing frisbee. Next stop shorts and flip flops for the boys - the guaranteed sign of summer being on the way. Or at least spring.
