Drummin' (3)
3rd in the Drummin' series. I can't believe I'm doing a series. More from today here.
Been a lot of choice though, today, but I have not taken any photos since the drummin' stopped! Been a good day today. I needed it.
There's something about the sun shining that inspires Doing. So I have done laundry, tidied up, sorted out, got Ben dressed eventually, been out to take Steve's lunch to him because he left it at home, went to the supermarket and had lunch there with Ben - who has been really utterly delightful company today. He entertained himself, crawling and climbing, grinning at people, waving, coming back for food (he knows which side his bread is buttered!), eating quite a lot. I like his way of eating. Cake, chip, drink, couple of bites of sandwich (toasted chicken and bacon club mmm), chip, drink, cake, cake, cake, chip, sandwich, sandwich, drink.... Thankfully all the flavours went fairly well together and most of it got eaten as well.
Came home and after playing lots with a couple of wooden boats he's been handed down from a guy at Steve's work we got pizza dough made and into the oven to prove and then headed out into the garden. We've earned our dinner tonight, lots of sweeping and tidying and lugging and bouncing and climbing (those last two would be Ben, not me).
Steve home, pizza made, blip blipping, pizza in oven, Ben still not slept all day so hopefully I'll be able to get him off to bed before I go out to our small group.
No dolls house making today. (Sorry Amalarian.) Maybe if I'm not exhausted when I get home tonight I'll paint the floor ready for glueing the carpet down. If I can find the paint.
Went out to Messy Church yesterday for the first time. Came home thoroughly inspired and hope to take the idea to our small group! Would love to see our kids become part of our small group, rather than it being a place for us to escape to. Our children aren't the future of the Church, they are the Church!
Also yesterday.... I said goodbye to my camera and my favourite 50mm lens for a few weeks :( It has finally gone off to Camera Hospital to fix the issue with the mirror which causes all the frustrating focussing problems. (Tech stuff - if you focus on a certain point, you expect it to be in focus when you view the image. But with both our cameras you can focus on a particular point, and a point further back is actually the main focal point. It's very noticeable when the aperture is at f1.7. When Ben is running down the garden path I need to focus about 6 feet in front of him to get him in focus. Taking pictures at a wedding I'd be focussing on the bride and get the far wall in focus. Annoying in the extreme!)
Thankfully we have retained Steve's (identical) camera - it's next up for a hospital visit - and the 28mm, so I am being an utter camera tart and saying hello wholeheartedly to those for the time being. Making me see things in a different way, this 28mm :)
