NZ Cabbage Tree

Ti kouka is a familiar and distinctive feature of the New Zealand landscape. Their resilience out in the open means that they are often a feature of farmland but are also found on forest margins, open spaces, river terraces and in wetlands. The fibrous leaves are valued for their toughness and durability.

We are a small nation which comes together when the chips are down, we are tough and have spirit as we stand alongside one another. We are thankful to have the support of the world beside us, helping in whichever way they can.

Our little town in North Canterbury has become a busy little centre, our supplies are running low. There is no petrol or diesel and the supermarket shelves are very bare. There are supermarkets and petrol stations open in Christchurch city but only at certain times or for certain types of fuel.

An icon of New Zealand standing strong and steadfast with the blue sky above and a gentle touch of Autumn below.
