Windermere Protest Rally
Ninety-seven residents of the Windermere Apartments were displaced when the top floor of their building was burned off. Over a month later, the city authorities and the owner will not allow them to enter the building (most of which was not seriously damaged) in order to retrieve their belongings nor their cats. The neighborhood was outraged upon learning that the building will shortly be demolished. This was the first of two demonstrations in front of the building, and it was successful --at least for now. It still stands several days after it was scheduled to come down.
The coldness of an absentee landlord can be incredible.
