A taxing task

This is not a particularly inspiring photograph, but there again, this was not a particularly inspiring task. It's that time of year again when the self-assessement tax form has to be filled in and sent to the taxman no later that 31st January.
There have been endless adverts on the telly informing us that tax doesn't have to be taxing, but excuse me, it bloody well is.

The good thing about the form, is you can do it online and it will all be instant.
The bad thing about that is if you apply for an online account, you have to wait several days for it to be set-up - a problem, if you're thinking about doing this on the 30th January.
I set mine up two years ago, but since I didn't access it for a couple of months, it blocked me out. It has remained so ever since. So I do it manually.

Apart from the adverts, we can guarantee an item on the news telling us about the mad scramble to get tax forms in, and what percentage of people they've estimated will fail to get them in on time.

Well, I won't be one of those. I finished the form today, and got it stamped and posted. The onlly risk now will be if it ends up behind a filing cabinet in a Glasgow sorting office for the next 12 months. That would be a shame, since it only has to go 2 miles down the road.

So, that's one onerous job out of the way for another year. Next time I intend to do it in July.. but that's what I said last year.
