Hong Kong Remembers
Lunch today and this is Ian.
Dr Ian Wotherspoon was a senior Hong Kong Civil Servant who now tutors in the University of Edinburgh Life Long Learning department on history. He has co-authored "Hong Kong Remembers" - the story of Hong Kong's social, political, and economic development - from the post-War period to the end of its life as a colonial territory. It draws on accounts from some of the most influential people in the Colony, and Ian is well positioned to tell the story since he worked closely with the last Governor, Chris Patten.
I like to talk to him about Hong Kong because in a previous work cycle I used to visit the colony regularly. It was my favourite place in the Far East - a lot better in every way than Taipei, Singapore, or Macau. Lively, non-stop, colourful!
I look forward to letting Ian see what he looks like with a flower tucked behind his ear!
