Stone bridge

There were some fabulous old bridges in the area we stayed, including this one at Llandewi Brefi.

The area is well-known for its red kites. In the fifties and sixties the entire UK population consisted of a few pairs in this part of central Wales, so if you wanted to see kites, you had to come here. With protection that small nucleus has grown steadily and they are a common sight now. We even saw them over larger towns like Aberystwyth and Abergavenny.

We also visited the ruins of Strata Florida abbey near Tregaron.
