Young girls full of academic promise

Dear Heart,
I spent most (i.e. all) of today's lectures with my eyes glazed over and my left hand cruelly pinching the rest of me in a half-hearted attempt to remain awake. I love my course - truly, but I have been so very tired recently!
I planned on doing so much; next week's reading, beef casserole, Skyping the dozens of people I have promised a conversation, gone out to meet two very lovely people. Yet I have sat here, slumped in my chair and utterly exhausted. So much for the golden days.
