Money Jar

Putting my change in the money jar today I got to thinking about a funny story that happened a few weeks ago. We were on the way to dinner with our oldest daughter, having a conversation about the differences in our generation and hers where money is concerned. When my husband and I got married we had student loans and no savings. We pinched and saved to buy a house, always bought used cars, and thought twice about every expenditure. Even though we don't need to be as careful any more, old habits never die. On the other hand, our kids have never really had to scrimp and save. College was paid for and great jobs with good pay followed right after, along with a new car! My daughter got out of the car first that night to get a parking ticket, and as I was getting out I noticed two shiny pennies on the curb. I reached down and picked them up and after meeting up with my daughter, I handed her one "for good luck." She replied, "Oh, I dropped those when I got out of the car!" End of story.
