Dock and the bay
Another gloomy, cold day for a trip to Penarth with nephews, son, daughter, daughter's partner. We saw a very good photography exhibition: The Landscape of Wales by James Morris - images showing the contrast between the tourist view of Wales and the reality for its inhabitants. We once saw another exhibition of his photos of adobe buildings in Mali and Niger - he is so good at seeing and representing human interaction with landscape.
The pier at Penarth is sadly deteriorating, although it's now in the process of renovation, but it was much shabbier than when I last went there about 20 years ago. Here the view through the railings shows the industrial past and present - Cardiff docks in the background and some of the new development in the bay on the left.
