He Who Pays The Piper

Every week day morning when she is in residence at Buckingham Palace, Windsor, the Palace of Holyrood or Balmoral the Queen is serenaded at 9 am for 15 mins by her Piper.

Today this fine fellow took up position across the street from the office where I was working in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He was raising money for the charity Help for Heroes, and from what I could see was doing very well on their behalf. It was most appropriate that he choose this busy spot en route to Bettys (now before the apostrophe police come after me the name originally had an apostrophe but at some stage it was dropped and is now always written as Bettys) teashop. Fittingly, behind him is the very fine War Memorial.
