Libya
What a horrible, horrible, horrible day.
I woke up and spent the entire morning on my laptop, unable to tear my attention away from what was going on in Libya and Bahrain. I haven't felt so sick with fury in a long time. It's difficult to stay collected when you're confronted with the harrowing images of civilian bodies split into fleshy smithereens by an utterly indifferent government.
Then, at about 1pm, I shut my computer down and turned on the TV - only to discover that a devastating earthquake has hit Christchurch, in the South Island. Cue the sending of anguished texts to everyone I know in the city - mercifully, everyone's fine. However, the inner city is destroyed and there have been 65 confirmed deaths, with the numbers expected to rise.
I hope tomorrow is a better day for Tripoli and Christchurch.
