Almost rejected
When spring arrives I often buy myself a bunch of daffs. I love the bright colour and projecting trumpet with the delicate frill round. To me the yellow daffodil announces with volume that spring has begun- a fresh start and renewal of energy and vitality.
When I bought the rather shrivelled and empty looking green stems before the weekend, I popped them gently into a small vase and waited for the colour to burst out. And I'm glad they did- and just in the nick of time. Mr. M. was almost about to throw them out- it would have been a job for that day, since he'd spotted them the night before, he later told me looking"...dead and withered..."
Phew.
I love how the fresh crinkled petals remind me of how a newborn baby is all wrinkly and scrunched up- and new.
So onwards and upwards. Spring has sprung!
