Ah dear laptop, you keep telling me to fix you. You know there is something wrong with you but every time I fix one thing another part fails. I am afraid I have discovered that your OS files are corrupt, but then being the OS is Vista, we have known for a while this was a flaw. However, my lovely Dad had purchased Windows 7, You and this medicine will unite one night this week (when I have time) and my brilliant laptop (with built in blueray) will will will work again!
