Non!..mais

A box of sweets now used for collecting money found in the office.

The story goes that the son of the Afchain family made sweets not the way they should have been made so his mother (as depicted on this box, I think) told him that he had made a bêtise (a mistake). However, they quickly gained popularity and were sold all over France (and still are). I'm not sure if the non!.. mais expression means to depict the mother up-in-arms about the not-quite-right taste of the bêtises or if it is to the contrary, saying 'no (not quite right) but actually taste this, it's not as bad as it seems...'

They are produced in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region of France. This region came to my attention via the film "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis", one of my alltime favourite films, just so funny.
