Either Way They're Wrong...
What is it about apostrophes?
"Doctor's Parking Spaces" suggests one doctor has all of the spaces (which I'll admit is possible, but unlikely). "Doctors Car Park" suggests an irrational fear of the apostrophe full stop. What really gets me is that there are two different signs (there are 5 or 6 in total in either of the two styles). They must have started with one and decided to add some more. Rather than go with the same style someone has presumably suggested that they might improve the grammar. And yet.
It would, of course, have been more stereotypical to have the sign illegible but grammatically correct, leaving the apostrophicide to Grocer's.
Questions for the day:
Do a higher proportion of SUVs come with a personalised plate than normal cars? (a rough lunchtime count saw the proportion at around 75%);
Are Italians actually louder than everyone else or is it an aural illusion?; and
If a Lib-Dem changes his mind on manifesto policy and no-one hears it do the Tories still get a free hit on Nick Clegg's right arm?
p.s. Not heard about the job yet from last week's interview. Okay, so I might be pushing it a bit and give them time, but I want to know!
