Jurgen Kempf

Jurgen owns the Mechanical Music Museum in Varkaus which is where we ended up after a trip to Varkaus primary school to meet pen pals, have a tour and attempt ice skating on the school ice rink and cross country skiing on their ski course. All of the children from our school made presentations to the Finnish school children which they seemed to enjoy although a few looked worried when one of the boys gave a particularly impassioned version of the address to a haggis.

Jurgen was as mad as a box of frogs but great fun and kept the children teetering in the zone between being entertained and terrified.

In the evening the parents and pupils from Varkaus came over for a barbeque and football on ice. Nobody was deterred by the fact it was -32C. Apart from our health and safety officer who fell into a snow drift.
