Sunny Relief
While a good chunk of the country was in subzero (F) temperatures to include Lambeau Field where the NY Giants pulled off the NFC Championship in the third coldest playoff game in NFL history, our temperature in south-central Alaska popped up above freezing in the low 40s for a few days with high winds melting much of our ground snow and making the roads sloppy. Last night it all refroze and we had 6-8 inches of snow which is a bad combination of a layer of ice on the roads and snow on top. Mrs. Scintilla had to be in Anchorage by 8:45 this morning for periodontal surgery (poor thing). A usual 1 hour drive became 2+ hours. There were over a dozen "ditch divers" as the radio announcers like to call them buried to the sides. All were upright today. Fortunately, she wasn't the only one late as the appointment after hers cancelled. She's done and drugged up. K and I are nursing her as best we can. The clouds and snow cleared and the sun hit the mountains nicely. This is the view from the car waiting for K to finish up at school this afternoon.

I rarely compliment my brother, but I have to say he surprised me with his touching poem on the passing of their donkey Freda
