Hedge School

In Ireland, in the latter part of the 1800's we had what were called hedge schools, where travelling teachers taught among other things, Irish and Irish History. The location of the classes changed in fear of the law, but was often under trees!
This is a scene from Mzuzu today where teaching is under a tree instead of, mostly in a primitive building. At least the teacher here has a reasonable blackboard.

The pupils receiving porridge in one of the schools in Mphaka area in Sonda. The teacher was teaching under the tree, as often happens.
We collected and deliverd wood shavings to one of the guys in town who has alot of chickens, so we made a deal to supply shavings in return for chichen manure.
Binna, Vasco, Benedicto, Mary and Oliver were planting Soya in the field that we rented to plant soya and maize.
We have not harvested all the beans, we were just selecting the ones that look dry, to avoid damaging them in heavy rains when they are still in the field, but just a little is left.
We will weigh them and I will tell you the weight.
