Orographic.

Orographic clouds are clouds that develop in response to the forced lifting of air by the earth's topography. Dunedin is built within a 12million year old volcano and it is on the east coast. So if the wind is from the north west, as it was today, any moisture in the air is forced up and forms clouds on the volcanic rim. There is forest there that is cloud forest, will blip that one day. This view was taken 2 paces from my back door.
