The Boston Banksy

True to the forecast, we hit 60? today! After the long cold weeks of January and February, it seems almost like a miracle. Bostonians have been looking forward to this all week.

I walked through the Public Garden on my way into work, looking for signs of spring. This is the best I could do (1) the winter jasmine is coming into flower; (2) there are some very promising bud-like things on the magnolia trees, but it was too icy to get close enough to shoot them; (3) in a few places where the snow had melted there was actual, genuine green grass. Not brown. Green.

In general though, the Garden was a complete mess. Lots of tree branches are down, and they haven't been cleared up either because it's too difficult with all the snow, or maybe the budget got used up. Not all the paths have been ploughed, either. The Public Garden is usually pristine, so it's a bit of a shock to see it like this.

But enough of this! I've always wanted to put up a shot of the Boston Banksy before it gets completely covered over in graffiti. It's in a car park on Essex Street, so it's pretty unusual to see it without a car parked in front of it - I just grabbed the shot while I could.
