XII Station of the Cross

At my church we have a religious garden in the back that is about 1/2 acre. This garden, in the Catholic religion, is referred to as the
Stations Of The Cross or the Way of the Cross (also Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrow). Along its gravel paths there are sculptures depicting the last 15 events in Jesus' life. The 1st station is his being sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate and the last station, the 15th, his resurrection from death. Each station is a point for meditation on a specific event along the 'Way.
This image is of 12th sculpture depicting 'Jesus Death on the Cross'.

This garden is a true desert environment , with cacti, desert trees and grasses. It is not uncommon to see javalina (a wild pig), deer, snakes (and yes, the occasional rattlesnake), rabbits, squirrels, and many variety of desert birds. I have been given the privilege of being the caretaker of the paths and sculptures, a truly rewarding endeavor. A very spiritually inspiring place for strolling and meditating. I do love this garden.

The photograph was heavily Photoshopped, as I felt a more graphic image depicted the scene and mood at the time I was there.
Here is the link to the original photograph.

Thanks for stopping and looking.
