Col des Arses

Hmm...action photo of me or atmospheric walking shot with rocky crags in the background....hmm...action it is then!

Today we traversed high in the Pays Desert so that we could make our way way out wide, towards but not up to the Col des Arses (google translates the French 'Arses' into the English 'Arses' so your guess is as good as mine), where there were almost no other tracks. It was quiet and atmospheric; the views across the Vanoise are absolutely stunning from there. We took our time and savored the ambience.

The snow was tricky in places up high; changeable and sometimes crusty. It had me flailing around like a drunken puppet. I only switched on towards the bottom, which is where this photo (thanks Chrissy) is taken.
