Calm corner in Copacabana

Back blip
Really busy day today; met with the builders in the flat, did paperwork in the estate agency and then, just as my energy was really flagging, we decided to try and get Brasilian mobiles fixed up. We'd cleverly brought the free mobiles we'd got in Spain from Telefonica but found out after going to goodness knows how many shops and queueing to buy sim cards and credit, that the mobiles needed to be unblocked. Off we went again to other shops, only to find they couldn't do it. A doorman on one of these shops though told us, 'go a couple of blocks across that way and ask the guy on the newspaper kiosk or some of the neighbours to show you where to find the guy who unblocks phones.' Wild goose chase, we thought and considered just buying two new mobiles, but something made us keep going and so off we went. We asked around and around and around and eventually a doorman on a big commercial centre (which looked just lik a big block of flats from the outside!), said, 'Sim, commercio numero 350. Enter by the door round the corner.' As we were going up the escalators BB said to me, 'if we pull this off it'll be a miracle'. And we did!! He told us to pick up the unblocked phones the next morning and so are now proud owners of two Brazilian telephone numbers! And saved ourselves £100 in the process and discovered a very interesting commercial centre, where you can buy just about anything!
This pic was taken in the morning when I had to wait for BB at this corner at the end of our new street here. I watched this kiosk owner as he meticulously arranged his stall, greeted all the neighbours as they walked past, swept up the whole street corner and then lastly, lit an incense stick and stuck it into the tree trunk just out of the frame of this pic! It was 10 mins of routine and calmness in a really busy day!
