Steel City Wildlife

What a difference a week makes...

Is it really only last Saturday when I was writing about how spring-like things were getting? Today I woke up to a good covering of snow, and it looks like winter's returned for a bit. I had a walk round Wheata Wood this morning, which was very quiet bird-wise, with the only highlights being a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a couple of Nuthatch and a hunting Kestrel.

Most of the birds seen, like this Blue Tit, were foraging at the edge of the wood by the village.
