Let's Get Old Fashioned

I love vintage clothes. Like this jumper, purchased a while ago on a cider-driven whim with a good friend. It bunches around the elbows, the waist is a little high and the sides of the body are a bit bobbly. But it's perfect. I enjoy thinking about who might have worn it before me, where it came from. Maybe another student in the seventies, sitting surrounded by denim jackets, big hair and Doctor Martins in beige and magnolia rooms with pine and black metal furniture everywhere. Or maybe a working man, who wore it to keep warm on the walks to whatever trade job he had at the time. Where are these people now, and why did their clothes end up on some metal rack in Edinburgh waiting for a new life to begin? It's all a bit exciting.

Alternatively it could have belonged to a boring man named Gerald who was an English teacher and liked to do crosswords in his spare time when he wasn't out bird watching. You just never know.

But at least I like the jumper.
