The Metz House - Heritage Hill District #3

Heritage Hill is a large, urban, historic district adjacent to downtown Grand Rapids; the neighborhood encompasses 1300 homes that date from 1848.

In 1968, the Heritage Hill Association was formed to stop some urban renewal projects that would have demolished 75% of the homes in this neighborhood. Now there are very strict rules about any modifications of these homes. Tear downs are definitely out of the question.

This home was built in 1888 by George Metz who owned Grand Rapids Leather Company. It's described as "chateauesque style."
