Blackbird

The weather today is grim, grey and foggy, so I abandoned hope of getting out and getting a decent shot. So I've fallen back on one of my garden regulars, the blackbird.

This is one of the two males currently fighting it out for the territory of our garden and since I've started Birding 365, I've been putting food out every couple of days, so its hot property at the moment. I know in previous years the disputes have ended with one pair "owning" the top end of the garden and the second pair "owning" the bottom, closer to the house, with several other pairs snatching a bite to eat when they pass through the middle, so our bird feeders are divded up and down the garden and we put a couple up in the middle. Fingers crossed this year they can come to another compromise.
