The Destructor

This Chimney is sited next to the Morrison's store
on Foss Islands road in York.
Its name The Destructor as its known, shared the site
with the corporation refuse burning establishment and
the Electricity Generating Board. The steam produced
from this ran the generators. All thats left now is the
Chimney.
It stands 55 metres tall and has grade 2 listing. It is
Octagonal in shape and is as tall as York Minster.
Built in 1899.
