A surprise find in the carpark at Deans Bush, Christchurch, New Zealand. It dazzled us with its brilliance and turned the trees red.

At last I was able to drive to the city to meet FirehorseMia, after having to cancel the planned meeting on her birthday. We had a picnic on the lawn and then went for a walk in the Bush, which is a small patch of forest from pre-European times. It is enclosed in a predator-proof fence because there are kiwi living in there now. No, we didn't see a kiwi, but we are sure we heard a tui- beautiful bell-like notes interspersed with rasping sounds. We saw several cheeky fantails that flitted about us.

It was deliciously cool in the bush. There are so many beautiful things to see, but too dark for photos without a tripod.
