Woken by my alarm today and it took me a whole song to realise - We Were On Holiday, Hooray!!!! Leant over switched the alarm off and got up 10 minutes later. I was awake.

My boy came down shortly after, ready to resume his paper round. Like me he had been thinking of our little experiment yesterday and we came up with some other options to try. Not today though, I was bumped for a stroll through town with his pals.

It has been such a grey day, but for about 20 minutes the sun and a little blue sky came out. With my trusty bag at knee I crawled under my Hamamelis, witch hazel tree, and took this. It is such a gorgeous sight at this time of year. In full bloom, which it is, it is utterly breath taking.

I didn't marry my No. 1 boy for his romantic side. His first valentine gift to me was a foam heart, covered in red nylon, trimmed with nylon lace, on top of which sat a black scottie dog and a small vase of carnations. He later confessed that he had just asked the florist to send whatever they could for the amount of money he offered. How would he know what I would like?. I had to take it on the bus home - how embarrassing. That was, of course, after I had re-claimed it. I was out when it was delivered to the office and someone else thought it would be a hoot to give it to their wife, who also worked there as a joke! Charming man. He wasn't so popular when I asked for it back.

Anyway, No 1. boy is away this week, and text me this morning, not long after I got up, to say that he had bought me a card but forgot to write or send it and could I possibly wait till he gets home on Friday? Then signed his text perhaps a not so secret admirer. Truly an eejit but loveable none the less.
