Hilda the Hen
It's 40 degrees (F) and man does it ever feel great not to have to bundle up to go outside. The egg-layers are happy as can be too. They are spending some much needed time outside now that there is a small area of melted snow for them to scratch around in. It's muddy, yes, but they don't seem to mind one bit. These girls are dedicated to their egg laying commitments. I think they are having a secret contest to see who can lay the biggest, most delicious egg these days. Hilda is the only one who verbally lets us know she's laid her daily gift. That girl can cackle so loud you'd think she was being eaten by a wolf. We jump up and look outside every time to be sure a predator hasn't arrived. Nope, it's just Hilda again, expressing her delight.
We took Dad to breakfast at his new favorite place in Big Rock. It's amazing how happy a man can be over a couple of pancakes and a scrambled egg.
