Lichen and a blue sky

I saw this patch of lichen on our way back home from the local shops this morning. The sun was falling on a Y-shaped branch covered with two kinds of lichen. It was quite warm when the sun was out and the birds were singing loudly. We saw a couple of red kites around but none of them were very close today.

I've spent most of the day reading 'The Help' - one of my bookgroup books for next week. Nearly finished and enjoying every page.

Now planning our strategy to get husband to the start of his first half-marathon tomorrow morning. Hope it doesn't rain as currently forecast.
