Busy bee today, up making soup for the hungry boy and slow roasting the tea. By 10.00 am the house was awash with the smell of food. Lovely. Took my No.1 boy to the allotment to help hold the window whilst I attached it to the cold frame. He is useless at many things practical. Firstly he broke off a branch which he thought was an weed - it was infact a new shoot from a raspberry bush. Then he threw it away onto another plot holders land. A big No! No! in allotment etiquette. We always struggle to communicate well when it comes to lifting and moving things. I blame it on his manly need to be in charge. I can't blame it on myself!?

The site I have choosen for the coldframe is where I am hunkered down taking this shot. I need to clear it from all the debris left over the years by other owners of the plot. I had hoped to dig the supporting poles into the ground to secure it but it has concrete slabs at the bottom running under the shed too so I will almost certainly not be able to move them. Spent the day digging out the soil, weeds etc and moving them - still a bit more to go. The shot shows the coldframe in the background - up on its side, awaiting painting. I thought I had paint when I went shopping for the bargain grow bags (thanks PlanW) but of course, when I got there, the cupboard was bare. Baa!

My girl, who has no more prelims and is having a rest - Ha! - has been partying all week. She was out last night staying over. Arrived home about 11.30, had lunch at 12.30 and then went back to bed until 3.30. She's off out again in another hour. Quite right too she worked so hard and deserves to have fun, after all, she is back in the books after Mid-term.

I'm ready for a soak in the bath. See it pays to have tea in the bag.
