Sunday afternoon sport
After a bit of a leisurely start to the day, I had a midday walk through Grey Lynn Park. This park hasts a lot of Pasifika activities, and today there was a Touch (Rugby) Competition. The most serious players and spectators were on the next field to this one, where there were two games in progress as I went by. This one appealed more for a photograph, because it was beside the tent and the bank for spectators.
They referee themselves, and honesty prevails. In the adjacent game, one speedy runner was away and got barely tipped by a (not) despairing dive, and he stopped and returned, not needing to be called back. Sport as it should be.
Players in the teams are of both genders, with a broad age range, and I noted pakeha (or palangi) members of at least one team.
