Looking to the future

There are too few genuinely nice people in this world. The person who bought these beautiful cupcakes into work this morning is one of them. What a brilliant treat first thing on a hectic Friday morning!

I've had a really great week. A lot has happened and it's made me reflect a lot.

One of the big things that came to the surface today is that you can't move forward if you keep holding onto the past. So 50 'friends' lighter on the old Facebook and a determined attitude to keep looking forwards are pushing me onwards.

I've been thinking a lot this week and I've realised how important it is to stretch yourself to see what you're really capable of. I've also realised that all work and no play really does make you very dull indeed and that there's definitely a balance to be struck in the work:life ratio.

At the same time I can see how easy it can be to become a workaholic because if you like what you do, it's easy to become so absorbed and want to do it better and stay longer and start earlier to get things right. And while that's good turning your back on your family and friends isn't. Working hard is a great way to bury your worries but you have to, in the end, face up to them too.

So, today's conclusion?
It's good to put in the graft and feel like you've done a good job but it's also great to come home to people who love you. I guess in the end it's that age-old balancing act. If you're to succeed in this world you have to learn to become a really great juggler - and have bags of energy!
