Fancy lunch?
Good morning this morning. Excellent meeting with client. Given free reign. Returned home in a good mood. B was at home, not working, not expecting me for another hour or two...so there we were, the two of us, alone together...one of those rare moments which those of you who have brought up 4 children will appreciate. "Fancy Lunch?" I offer. "Where do you fancy" I asked, after I had prized my arm back out of her mouth. "Your call" she says dashing up the stairs to get her gladrags on.
We'd had our children quite early in our relationship, spread across 11 years, and now that they were nearly all adults, we relish those occasions where we can just pop out and have time together without needing to check if they have high chairs, without making sure they do fish fingers or chicken nuggets or even that they allow kids at all! It's also a pleasure to find that when the bill comes, it's only £50 because there's only 2 of us not 6.
So we turned up at Retro, a french bistro in Teddington with set lunch menu at £10.95. Fantastic. Tom will kill us for not going to his restaurant, but it's good to check out the competition! Who could tell we have been together for nearly 30 years. Flirting across the table. Holding hands, telling jokes and the 'Ladies Lunching' across the room speculating on who was cheating on whom. Until that is, it came to ordering. B had Crab for starters and Trout for main. Not to be outdone and wanting to appear as if I were my own man, I had Crab for starters and Trout for main.
Let me tell you it was delicious, definitely the right choice. Can't vouch for B's choice. (haha!) She was disappointed it was pan fried, but as I pointed out, it said pan fried marinières on the menu, as I licked my index and chalked one up on the imaginery blackboard. I did think when she ordered that she was be a bit risqué, with her heart and all, but when in Rome (or in this case Paris - Teddington). Ah well, done now, she'll just have to work extra harder at the gym.
Talking of which...to today's blip. You'll remember from yesterday's blip that we went to the cinema and I was conned into paying for her treat. Well, we left the cinema and on the way back to the car, passed a sports shop having a closing down sale...."ooh" she says...."a quick peek in here". A 'cheap' top, bottoms, socks and a pair of Asics later, guess who hasn't got her card with her!
Don't worry I says, that's what Muggins is for!, and seeing as I blipped my new pumps a few days ago, why not blips B's new trainers.
Looking forward to starting that much needed next commision!
