Hot Pot
So tonight K. and I headed up to town to meet our friends, S and C, to celebrate C's birthday. C., like me, used to live in China and what she really wanted was hot pot. There are, apparently, just two restaurants in London that serve hot pot and this place, on Shaftesbury Avenue, was the real deal. We were the only westerners in there.
Anyhoo, Hot Pot is a bit like Chinese fondue, i.e. you cook it yourself. One half of the pot is spicy broth, the other is a bit more mellow. You then order loads of raw ingredients, throw everything in and go for it. The better the meal, the messier the table, and here is the evidence. All we had left at the end was a load of debris.
After that, headed to 'Green Carnation' on Greek Street to see the evening out. On the way home, K. and I agreed that we always have a good time when we make the effort to head into town, and that we should make the effort to do it more often. So watch this space!
