A walk by the Wharfe
Most of the walks I have been doing have been centred on the moors and woods near our village in the Aire Valley. Today my friend Dot suggested a walk in the the next valley - the Wharfe.
We walked through Middleton Woods near Ilkley with signs of bluebells pushing through the leaf mould and catkins and snow drops a plenty. On to Middleton Lodge and the area where there are lots of expensive dwellings and a surprising Calvary in a secluded little wood. Interesting though this was a large piece of bark (half the circumference of an ancient tree) had been propped up by two stakes. There was no explanation of this but also no shortage of amazing shots to take of it's gnarled beauty.
I chose this close up.
