Route (via) Canal (to) Work

Took a different route to usual today to see a regular customer, and took the opportunity to take some photos of the Kennet & Avon canal near Aldermaston. This is Aldermaston Lock and is unusual in that it has scalloped walls.

Years ago we were going to buy a new house being built right next to this lock, so we know the area well. We changed our minds when the developers messed us about one too many times. We did though take the scalloped walls as inspiration when designing the garden in the house that we did buy, so our borders now have scalloped edges!
