Mermaid Supper
Dunbar Harbour, East Lothian. The Mermaid on the Homarus caught my eye as I followed a cormorant along the line of boats. The bird submerged, surfaced briefly further along, and went under again. I lost track of it at the raised bridge, but then found a seal doing the same in the opposite direction.
Katie, Gordon and I were along at Dunbar for a swim on this dreich Sunday afternoon, whilst the big boys were at Frazers. We travelled on the 5-wheeler - Dad's bike, Gordon's tag-a-long and the 2-wheel trailer for Katie. The pool was warm for a change, and we had a great time.
On the way home we decided to get chips to go with our haggis and Katie sat in the trailer snuggled up with 3 large bags wrapped in paper. When we got home, I opened the trailer to find - Oh, Fishing Chips! - my own Little Mermaid surrounded by chips. She was really hungry, tried to open the chips for a wee bite and spilled the whole lot! I wasn't angry - I've seen myself dig into the chips in the car on the way home - and I got a quick picture before we rescued the situation.
Edit: I meant to mention that I thought we'd lost our harbour pictures. The camera had created a new folder and put the pictures in there. Phew! It did that because the photo numbers rolled over DSC_9999.JPG -> DSC_0001.JPG. Which means I've taken 10,000 pictures on this Nikon D40. If I graphed my pictures per day, it would take a sharp upturn at the end of last year when I started Blipping. 200 pictures per day is not unusual now.
