4mm

Today I tried trying out different combinations of lens/ extension tube/ teleconverters to see just how close I could actually get to something really small.
So I found this fly crawling about on the windowsill, and when it stopped, I got a few shots. Its total body length was 4mm, and I got about 3:1 reproduction by the time I put a 2x converter on a 105mm lens on a digital body.
If that's double dutch, basically it means that if this is the size of the fly:

Other than that, I actually had quite a productive day and even plucked up the courage to enter into a web-based photo competition for the first time in months. I think it's the excitement of knowing that my other half is coming to see me in a couple of days.
