It's been ...
... a blue weekend, bird wise.
It took me forever to get this one. Three tries failed miserably as this blue jay is the fastest swooping b****r that visits the backyard. Even with him announcing his arrival with shrill shrieks did not give me enough time to get something other than some flying seeds in his wake. And once he swooped silently, scaring the poop out of all the other birds.
But then, after I had pretty much given up, he flew in for one of the last peanuts. And he sat down. Looked at me. Apparently I was non-threatening enough. I do try!
And then, after he grabbed a peanut he looked at me again before flying off.
All in all, not a bad weekend!
Tonight is the Superbowl. I could not possibly care any less about (American) football, but I do enjoy watching the commercials :)
Technical question: how do I expose bird's eyes correctly so they don't look black? They are so tiny! :/ I've tried to dodge 'm in processing, but that just looks weird. Ideas?
Update: Thanks to Gillie, I was able to light up just a tiny bit of the eye. Subtle, but I like it much better :)
