Ice Near Der Holer

The creek covered itself with a breastplate of solid ice up to a foot thick. Then, as the rain started and the tempatures warmed, it heaved the armor off with a great sound and grinding of boulders. The ice, trying to make this turn in the creek bed, slipped out of it's banks and spilled over onto the road.

Road crews had the lane back open within a few hours.

But it's only February fifth and the whole thing could happen over again.
