Trip to Raipur
It was a planned trip to Raipur to receive a very special guest at the Raipur Airport. A stretch of around 10km just before reaching the airport always fascinates me. The top two pics show the avenue in different perspective.
While returning on the left side of this stretch I found a lake and women in colorful attire sitting in line by the lake. I turned left, stopped my car and got down to get some blips. As I reached the lake I found that it was some sort of a ritual going on there, being performed on a lady whose husband died 3 days before. As per hindu customs the lady after that ritual will stop a) wearing colorful sarees and wear only a white saree b)adorning jewelry and sindoor and c) will not participate in any auspicious occasion of the family.
Although in developed cities and metros people stopped following these customs, majority of indian population being rural and literacy rate still being low... these are followed very strictly in villages...
Seeing that it will not be proper to take snaps on such an occasion I returned with two snaps of the village scene shown in the bottom.
Hope the situation changes soon...
Wish u all a very happy Sunday!
