Rode Hall

We wanted to photograph some snowdrops and in preparation we did a little bit of research to see if we could find somewhere close by that had a good show.

We came up with Rode Hall near Congelton not too far away.

Rode Hall Gardens has a spectacular snowdrop display with over fifty varieties set in a Repton landscape. The mile-long Snowdrop Walk is a perfect stroll out in the fresh air for the whole family, amidst swathes of cascading white flowers. Other winter shrubs add to the beauty of one of Cheshire?s finest gardens. Tearooms selling light lunches & afternoon teas. /i]

Their website suggested that there would be a good show this weekend so despite the rain we set off in anticipation.

No doubt there were 50 varieties but to my untrained eye there were tall ones and not so tall ones. "Swathes" turned out to be small patches while the mile long Snowdrop Walk was no more than a few hundred yards.

We skipped the light lunch and afternoon tea and came home to a lovely lunch of home made Stilton and leek soup followed by tea and crumpets. Perfect.
