More nature notes - A love story

Spring is here for my pigeons. Although the nest site on the ledge is covered with snow, this morning I noticed one of the pigeons standing guard while the other, presumably the female, sat in the nest area pecking softly at the snow.

A little while later the two were engaged in pigeon foreplay, feeding each other by sticking their beaks in the other's mouth (a french pigeon kiss?) and following each other around. Later they sat still, chests touching, gazing at each other for about 20 minutes until a third pigeon came by and disturbed the happy couple.

Later they were back, giving each other little pecks and cleaning each other's feathers. Ahhhh, pigeon love.

PS: The faint lines behind the pigeons are the wires strung along the ledge to stop the pigeons from landing! Pigeons 1, Humans 0!
