Beat This...
One of my New Year resolutions was to start keeping a journal. So, just over a month in to 2011, here is my first entry: better late than never hey?!
What finally prompted me to start keeping a record of the days? Well, I interviewed someone today who had worked with me over 10 years ago, and though she looked familiar, I couldn't place her. Her reaction to my lack of recognition and the subsequent embarrassment on my part, started me thinking about how it could be that someone I had spent so much time with in the early stages of my career could be so conclusively shoved to the back of my mind, consigned to the trash. How many other associates have suffered the same fate?
It struck me today, not for the first time, that it is too easy to focus on getting through this day, preparing for the next and not making time for reflection, to note what has been going on around us, what we have achieved during the day, where we have fallen short of our expectations. I am blessed with two amazing kids, a wonderful, loving partner and a stimulating and varied job - life is pretty hectic. The hope is that with this journal I can keep a record of just some of the shenanigans we get up to and improve my photography to boot. If others are amused, moved or inspired by what they see and read, that would be an added bonus! :-)
